Book Review: Dracula - Bram Stoker

The book begins with Jonathan arriving at Dracula’s house. When they meet,

Jonathan thinks Dracula is a really mysterious man, but, above that, He was being well

treated by this man. Jonathan was there because He works in a company that has sold a

house in England for Dracula and Jonathan’s boss send him to take some signatures and

explain how the house is to its new owner: Dracula.

As the days are passing, Jonathan keep thinking there is something strange in

Dracula’s behaviour. Once, He saw Dracula climibng out of the window,moving like a

terrible animal. He felt completely afraid and actless that He decided to lie down to

regain his forces. A few time after, He felt like He was not alone and saw three Young

women watching him. One of these women became closer to him and was almost

touching his neck when Dracula arrived and said: “I Will use him first. Then, and only

then...”

The day after nothing was Said about that strange night and Jonathan asked to

leave the house. When Dracula opened the door they could see and listen many wolves

outside. That’s why Jonathan decide to leave on the next Day.

That night the guest was feeling afraid and decided to go to Dracula’s room by the

window and take the house keys. There, He found a Stone step leading to another place

full of Wood boxes, in one of the boxes He saw Dracula lying with blood on his face.

Mina was Jonathan’s girlfriend. Mina’s bestfriend was called Lucy. Many men fellin

Love with Lucy like Jack Seward-a doctor, Quincey Morris-na American adventurer, and

Arthur Holmwood – Who came from a famous English family. Mina and Lucy went to a

Holiday together and Mina told Lucy that she finally had decided to marry Arthur. One

night in the Holiday, Mina woke up and found Lucy Sat at the garden with two red

wounds on the neck. After some days Lucy died.

Some kids started to disappear and were found later with wounds on the neck, Just

like Lucy’s wounds. The Doctor suspected that Lucy was the one Who was making these

wounds once her coffin was empty.It was necessary to hit Lucy’s heart with a piece of

Wood and heavy Stone. That’s what Arthur did; to complete the ‘work’, it was necessary

to fill Lucy’s mouth with garlic and cut her head off.

Mina started to fell weak.Jonathan and the other men realize that she was also

bitten by a vampire ans she is starting to become one of them. So a run against time

begins. They need to find Dracula and kill him to stop this and guarantee Mina’s

soul.Fortunately, they find the Count and kill him. Mina ends up well.

     6.  É possível estabelecer uma sucessão ecológica como instrumento de compensação ambiental?

O processo sucessional é a substituição de um tipo de vegetação por outro, onde uma etapa cria condições para o desenvolvimento da próxima. Este processo propicia condições adequadas para o desenvolvimento de novas etapas sucessionais permitindo que se estabeleça uma vegetação mais diversa e com ciclo de vida mais longo, além de um solo mais profundo e rico em nutrientes, até que o ecossistema formado chegue ao seu clímax. Desta maneira, podemos considerar que a sucessão ecológica pode sim ser instrumento de compensação ambiental pois permite que uma área tenha oportunidades de atingir seu clímax.

Tratando-se de Legislação Ambiental, temos como exemplo a Lei Complementar 757/ 2015 do município de Porto Alegre. Esta prevê compensações, supressões e podas dos vegetais baseando-se em seus estágios de sucessão, ou seja, compensação vegetal baseada nos estágios sucessionais.

   5. Quais os fatores referentes ao distúrbio, que podem interferir na estabilidade das comunidades, e consequentemente, na manutenção do clímax?

A resposta da comunidade aos distúrbios ambientais é determinada pelos conceitos de resiliência e resistência. A resiliência é o tempo de retorno ao estado anterior, já a resistência é a inércia de sair do estado atual. Estes dois conceitos são independentes e dizem respeito à estabilidade das comunidades frente à um distúrbio.

      4. É possível haver clímax em comunidades regularmente afetadas por distúrbio?

Sim, é possível haver clímax em comunidades regularmente afetadas por distúrbios. O fogo, por exemplo, é um aspecto importante de muitas comunidades de clímax, favorecendo as espécies resistentes ao fogo e excluindo aquelas que de outra forma dominariam. As vastas florestas de pinheiros do sul, ao longo da costa do Golfo e sul da costa atlântica dos Estados Unidos, são mantidas por incêndios periódicos (distúrbio regular).Portanto, caráter do clímax pode ser influenciado por condições extremas, tais como o fogo e uma intensa pastagem, que altera as interações entre as espécies numa sere.
